It's been a while since I last updated, and I did promise pics of the models when I finished them, so without further ado:

On a whim, I got two model kits Friday: the USS Enterprise and the Ecto-1. Why did I get them? Your guess is as good as mine. They were snap together kits (and they actually work!), but the painting is reminding my why I hated model kits in the first place. I might put up pics when I get my digital camera back from my dad.

TrekWeb.com - Brannon Braga Takes on Continuity Hounds, Joins Berman in Hyping "Edgier" Season 3
With regards to the continuity errors in Enterprise, producer Brannon Braga had this to say, in an interview with "Star Trek Monthly":
"I totally and completely disagree. It's the dumbest comment in the world and I am so tired of hearing it," he says strongly when asked point-blank about playing fast and loose with TREK continuity, in excerpts available at Sci-Fi Pulse. "What have we done? Give me one good example. There are some picayune things that we have chosen to do. We have not broken the rules, but we have bent rules. But there's nothing that important. It's not like we've stated that Kirk never existed. What have we done?"
Well, here's one producer that's gonna be facing a deluge of hate mail from Trekkies and Trekkers alike. This is gonna be interesting to see how this will play out.

I've got Star Trek on the brain right now. Moreso than usual. Lately I've been a little obsessed with getting Star Trek toys from every toyline they ever had, which can be pretty expensive (like the 1974 Mego 8" figures) or rare (like Ertl's Star Trek V 7" line). I've also been trying to full out my cast member assortment from Playmates' various Star Trek lines. (Anyone know where I can find a 7 of 9 figure? They made three...!) And then there are those miscellaneous characters I want to pick up to fill out some themes I had going when I bought figures the first time around, like O'Brien from "Trials and Tribble-ations." Somebody stop me!!!

So I've been on a kind of old sci-fi toyline binge as of late. I recently acquired 6 Mego Star Trek: TMP figures, and all but 3 figures from Mattel's Battlestar: Galactica line. I've even put in bids for Star Trek III figures! Somebody stop me!! Actually, they're all in the 3.75" scale, so I could all incorporate them into one big, zany dio-story. (Don't know what a dio-story is? Tough! Actually, it's a narrative told through dioramas, with optional word balloons and photoshop effects thrown in for fun.) But the dio-story idea is just the slightest plot outline right now. I honestly have no idea why I feel the compulsion to buy these guys up.

Well, it took damn near forever, but I think I'm good to go with my new computer setup. Huzzah! (Did I just write "huzzah"? Jeez, I gotta stop reading Tolkien. He's actually making me want to go to a Renaissance Faire!)

So with Nammy's help, I installed the new motherboard in my computer today. I'm now in the middle of reinstalling everything. Damn hard drive reformatting!

My brother flies back to Philadelphia today. He came here in June, but it seems so sudden. Now he has to go back to the East Coast and endure another year of grad school. I think I'm gonna miss him a little.

Random Thoughts for the Day:
- I'm peeling. Eeww.
- My brother's having a going-away party tomorrow. (He returns to Philly Sunday.) I had to switch shifts with someone at work to attend it.
- The day after I get my new processor, Fry's has an ad for a 2400 Athlon and board for only $30 more. Needless to say, dad jumped on it. The parts are still in their bag by my desk, not yet installed.
- Did I mention I'm peeling? Eeww!

Argh! See what happens when I go to social functions?! I went to this pool party, see, and I got sunburned. You can't put aloe vera on at work! The pain!

Today my dad got me a new motherboard and processor for my computer (they were on sale at Fry's). It includes an Athlon 1800+ processor and USB 2.0 ports. We'll rip apart my tower sometime over the weeked to install this stuff. Hopefully nothing will go wrong... So now all I have to do is make one side of my tower clear and install some blinky-light wires, right?
On another note: AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! It can't be August already! I haven't enjoyed my summer vacation enough yet!
