I walked to school today. I walked about a mile up and down some really steep hills because our UCSD shuttle service is flawed. See, I live by the stop that would coinstitute just about the halfway mark of the shuttle's route. Yet there I was at 9 in the morning only to find three shuttles pass our stop with a "Full" sign in the window. Someone else said he had counted five shuttles. Five shuttles full before they even make it halfway. UCSD needs to break up this route.

My first day back at UCSD just had one 80 minute class. It wasn't too bad, just the regular first day intro stuff, no real learning to be had. Apparently, I only needed to get one book from the bookstore, which was a pleasant surprise. We'll see if that changes.

Well, I go back to La Jolla today. I've put it off as long as possible, and now I no longer have the time to procrastinate further. Summer break's over, time to go back to school. *Sigh.* I don't have the internet set up at my apartment yet, so updates will continue to be random for the foreseeable future.

Earlier today, dad got me a new phone from Cingular to replace my now-defunct Nokia 3390. I've now got a Nokia 3595, with full-color screen. It's pretty neat, and since it's the same brand, I don't need to buy any new accessories. Oh yeah, and points for Cingular for using the SIM card! I don't need to add in all my old phone numbers again; I just move the card!

On another note, while clearing out my still-hospitalized grandmother's house later on, we found a really well-preserved Minolta camera, with accessories, that may have belonged to an uncle of mine who died a few months after my birth. This camera would have been perfect for my Photography class, and since I'm the only one who really has a clue how to operate it, I'm now its possessor. The camera still had some 20 year old film in it, so we're seeing if we can get it developed. It should be interesting. We also found a little Super 8 movie camera in the camera bag!

My mobile phone just died. I went to add in a number, and found that it wasn't on, nor could I turn it on. I tried pulling out and replacing the battery and key card, and I had some luck. The phone trned on, but it didn't fully load. And now it won't turn on anymore! Arrgh!

ComiX-Fan Forums - General Questions for Chris Claremont!: "That said -- re the 'Resurrection' arc, things go something like this: Jim Lee calls Bob Harras back when we got started and said (paraphrasing of course), 'gee, I'd really like to see a story where the new team goes looking for the old team so we can (a) explain Caitlin's presence in the book and (b) bring the original characters back to life.' Me, being me, responded by trying to put off that story as long as possible because I wanted my guys to establish thesmelves on their own as fully as possible.

Well, fast forward ahead to late spring '03. The new G13 isn't setting the sales world on fire. Wildstorm decides to shut the book down, which wll happen with #16. Final arc, mandated from On-High: find and resurrect the original team. End of story.

My goal is to accomplish that in a way that preserves the integrity of my own series and, as much as humanly possible, that of Adam's original story. Will it prove satisfying to any of the readers or principals involved? Probably not. But this way, we're left with a status quo that's acceptable to the publisher. Since they pay the freight, they get to make these kind'a calls.

For what it's worth, I've always enjoyed Adam's work. I can't write like him and quite frankly wouldn't try and the last thing that ever entered my head at any point in this project was that I would do any kind of disservice to his work on the book. That's what got me snarked when I read the various posts on the WS board, the presumption that my goal was nothing but RF a colleague who I've always held in great respect.

Cordially,
Chris Claremont"

Hallelujah, they're restoring the status quo on Gen 13! Now you won't have to hear about my long-winded rants anymore! Of course, I do hope that Claremont changes Fairchild back to the hot redhead she used to be. It's weird seeing her as some sort of purple-haired, quasi jell-o creature.

My last day at Edward's is today. Man, that's the third time I've had a last day at Edward's. Somebody stop me!

Jeez, I just can't pull myself to write anything in my blog these days. So we just passed the second anniversary of Septembet 11th. Not to be disrespectful or anything, but one of the Simpsons episodes airing that day was where Bart and Lisa start "Kidz News" and Bart becomes a shallow reporter, only putting forward sappy human-interest stories with no real informational merit. Then I went and saw news reports on 9/11 ceremonies. I was a little perturbed by how true I found the Simpsons' parody to be. Again, I'm not trying to underplay the significance of the events of two years ago, I'm just a little saddened about how they're being exploited by the press today. I'll get off my nutty, left-wing soapbox now.

I know you're all just dying to know what's going on in my life, aren't you? No? Well, I'm telling you anyway! I've gotten some new 12" Joes that I'm currently working on so I can put them on my site, work's gotten a lot easier now since most of the crowds have school and can't go to the movies whenever they want, and I got a haircut today that ended my little foray into having longer sideburns. They're back to their short length now, and since they never really worked as sideburns to begin with (damn light patch!), I'm not feeling too sorry.

Looks like my grandma gave herself a fracture in her femur near her hip. Oh boy.

Man, it's already September. Where did the summer go? What the hell happened? It seems like only yesterday I went with my mom to see a movie at the Universal Citywalk in Orlando. Now I'm painfully counting down the days until schools starts. For cryin' out loud, I had to put in my two weeks' notice at Edward's today!!
