And for a third day in a row we have school cancelled. I'm starting to lose it being stuck in the apartment all day. I don't want to lose my parking space and it's not healthy to go outside. Please, somebody, invite me over!

And now we have another day of school cancelled due to fires. I feel a little guilty about being so happy. On the one hand, I have days off from a school week, and on the other we have this massive amount of damage, pollution, and loss. Here's hoping the flames die down before more people have to evacuate.

I was planning to got to a school play for my theater class tonight, but I just got a phone call informing me that the show was cancelled due to bad driving conditions caused by the fires! So now I'm rescheduled for Thursday's performance. Oh yeah, and it's raining ash, even down here in SD.

Update: They've closed UCSD down for tomorrow. That's awesome. I've never had a school close on me due to weather. Of course, I'm a little freaked out. This is just way too weird an atmosphere. Somebody hold me!

I came home yesterday afternoon to find the sky darker and browner than I could ever remember it being, even on heavily-smoggy days. All those brushfires we have here in sunny SoCal are starting to add up. I didn't give the fire much thought until I went to take the dog to the groomer's this morning. All the cars parked in front of our house were covered with ash. This crap's everywhere! I was going to wash my car today, but if it's gonna be just as dirty again in a half-hour, why bother?

You know, there are times when I'm kinda glad I don't have a job. Don't get me wrong, I know I should get one, and I feel guilty that I don't have a job. I just don't think I could juggle all my classes if I had to add in a job. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I do think a lot of the reason I can do my work is because I have an extremely flexible schedule. I keep wondering, what if I had to take that time and fill it with a set amount of hours in some place with uniforms and zero chance to look at my schoolwork? Like I said, maybe I'm just paranoid. And making excuses.

I've finally got an internet connection back! I was supposed to get it yesterday, but the unfortunate business of clashing policies between Nobel Court and Time-Warner Cable about id's caused a bit of a delay. Doesn't matter now, though (for the moment, at least...)!

Oh, and if you're wondering why you haven't seen the last post until this one appeared, Topcities did that annoying thing of lsing my account info again.

I had a fun time last night. This is the first weekend this year that I've stayed in San Diego, and yesterday night Liz came over to my apartment where we watched the first season of Family Guy with my roommate and his girlfriend, after eating dinner at T.G.I. Friday's. (Does that seem like a run-on sentence to you, too?) I know it doesn't sound like much, but I had fun....

I've talked it over with my roommate, and we'll probably end up getting the Earthlink deal. So hopefully, I won't have to rely on the school's internet set-up for much longer!

I managed to find the phone number for Time-Warner cable in my area yesterday and got around to checking prices today. Is it normal for basic cable and dsl rates to be around $80 combined?? That seems very high. Of course, if I use Earthlink as my ISP, I can get the first six months at $30, instead of the ~$40. But still... Yeesh!

Geez, it's almost the middle of the month and I've only made 3 posts prior to this? Sorry, people, I'm slipping. I had a busy and long weekend that started on Thursday afternoon. I drove home then since mom was by herself there since Monday. The next day I went with Nammy, Mai, and Miho (did I spell that right?) to Disney's California Adventure for a few hours. On Saturday, I went with my parents to the nursing facility where my grandmother is at right now to celebrate her ninetieth birthday. And on Sunday we went to Santa Anita for K-Earth's bugstock in my little Jetta. Apparently we were able to set the world record for most VWs in one place (3238)!

Oh man, Arnold won the recall? Looks like I'll be doing my bad impersonation of him for a while now...

So I've been kind of interested in the Dirty Pair animes lately. And no, it's not just 'cause the main characters are babes with glorified bikinis for uniforms. Well, actually, it kinda is.... But I digress. I got hooked when we finally had to convert to digital cable at my Orange County home and saw that the shows aired on Showtime Beyond (their weird horror / sci-fi channel). This network doesn't really discriminate between which version of Dirty Pair they show; they seem mainly to deal with the original OAVs and Dirty Pair Flash. I'm thinking of buying some of the mangas and DVDs, too.

Bugger. Despite the best efforts of a friend of mine to repair some scratches I put in a Family Guy DVD, the player still can't read it. It's too late to exchange the set for a new one, either. I'm thinking that I'll buy another set and keep the replacement disk only. I'll give the rest of the set and the scratched disk (you can still watch about half the episodes on it) to my roommate's girlfriend. I've apparently gotten her addicted to the show.
