Wow, it's been much longer than I had intended since my last post. Our network modem went wonky and resulted in a loss of internet connectivity for about a week. Fun stuff. Anyways, I'm back working at Edward's now, so feel free to abuse my friendship for free movies. On Friday Mike had a party to celebrate his graduation from his Master's program which brought a lot of relatives over (And 1 hot friend of a relative!). But probably the most important thing is that on Sunday I finally moved my stuff into my new apartment. So now it's official, I now have a new address, but still in good ol' Nobel Court. Of course, my summer will still be spent at my house in Orange County. I guess that's all for now.

I'm back from our family road trip. While we did enjoy a nice eight day drive up and down California, there really wasn't all that much to do. (I'd been to Yosemite and san Francisco before, and since I'm not a big alcohol drinker, Napa Valley wasn't all that interesting to me). So there's not really that much for me to say about my little vacation, other than I say some scenic views, took a lot of pictures, and found out that elephant seals sound like water bubbling down a drain when they bark. Was that random enough?

Hey, I'm home from school, I got my computer set up on my desk, and I'm looking forward to a nice summer vacation. Too bad I've got to work at Edward's again, huh? Anyways, I'm just trying to pop in another post before I'm off with my family for our week-long vacation. We're going to Yosemite, then Napa Valley, San Francisco, and a trip back down the coastline along Highway 1.

I had an all-night with my project partner working on my last video of the quarter. (I'm talking serious all-nighter here, it was dawn by the time I went to bed; I don't think I've ever done that before....) But it was worth it. I just finished all my transferring and DVD burnings so that I've finished all my assignments for the quarter. Now it's just a matter of waiting to attend my presentations (I have one each day until Thursday afternoon.) Essentially, I'm done with the school year.

And with the end of the school year comes the usual break-up in daily posts. It's a little different for me this year, in that I have to return my cable internet router to the cable company before I leave, so I'll essentially be cutting off my internet access sooner than usual. And almost as soon as I get home my family and I run off for a vacation for about a week. So I'm just saying, I might get one or two more posts in before there will be a big break.

Today I had my first final. It was a performance piece for my acting class, so it was over in 5 minutes. And it was completely painless. I finished two final projects over the weekend, and have about 90% of the footage I need for my last video project in my documentary class. So hopefully I can get that done soon enough so that finals week will be a breeze for me. I know you're all just jealous now!

P.S. By the time you read this, I should have at least 4000 page visits. Sure half are from me, but it's still really cool that so many people have bothered to take the time and check out my puny little site!

I got ahold of the straight-to-video Starship Troopers 2 DVD today. Knowing from just about the very beginning that this was gonna be straight-to-video, I didn't exactly have high expectations going into it. (Hell, you can't have high expectations when you watch the first one, either.) It's an okay movie, but it's a lot different from the first movie, tonally. Only one actress from the original is in this one (she played the late captain of the Valley Forge), and here she plays a different character. I'm not sure why they couldn't get ahold of any of the other original B-list actors, though. (Apparently, one of the characters was supposed to be Sgt. Zim, but this was changed when the actor was unavailable for filming.) I got it mostly out of the obsession to have just about anything named "Starship Troopers." Hence why I have all the Roughnecks DVDs. Now I just gotta find that anime!

Hmmm.... Maybe I won't be burning said oils. I'm done. Finished. Fin. Finito. Damn, this paper was easier than I thought. Much, much easier. Why can't more papers be like this?? A little bit of reading, a little bit of writing, sufficient citing of sources, and bam! 9 pages. (Of course, it probably helped that I changed my font from Times New Roman to Courier New. Made a barely 7-page paper to 9 and a half. Heh heh.)

It looks like I'll be burning the midnight oil tonight as I struggle to write an 8-page paper for tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too bad, since it's just a research paper reporting on events without having to make any specific arguments. Ugh, how can it be June already??

Well, after a brief battle trying to get my computer to recognize that the VCR was connected to it, I managed to capture my 16mm film footage onto the computer and assemble a rough cut. I'll be showing this in class tomorrow for the teacher to see. The idea for the project is that this is some old foreign, instructional film, from around the 1940s or '50s, but given the wrong subtitles, with hopefully hilarious results. The only thing left is to create the subtitles and put in some fanfare-type music.
