I've been scouring the web a few times in the past day looking for any pictures I can find on Comic Con. Sure, I took my camera, but I'm just not the type of guy to take a lot of pictures. I leave that to others, figuring they'd do a better job than I. I tried this last year, too, but gave up rather quickly. This year I've put in a bit more effort, saving easily over 100 pictures to my hard drive. And I haven't been disappointed with what I've found. Plenty of pictures are already online so that I've been able to find just about everything I wanted. Of course, there's also another reason why I'm looking. I wanted to see if there are any pictures of me as Indy on these sites. About 5 people took my picture when I dressed up on Saturday, but unfortunately I haven't been able to locate any of me yet.

I haven't had much of an urge to use the internet lately. It kinda started before I went to Comic Con, though. I'd see my computer on, connected to the internet, but I'd just leave it there. I only occassionally used it to check e-mails and maybe visit one or two websites. I'm just kind of bored with the internet, you know? My favorite sites are only mildly appealling to me anymore, and I have little desire to seek out new ones. Oh well, I'm sure this will pass.

I know I seem to be completely neglecting this site, but that's not really the case. Well, actually... it kinda is. I just haven't felt like updating my site in a while. I went to Comic-Con everyday, survived an unbelievably long wait to get my pass on preview night, and spent virtually all my money on trade paperbacks and hard to find action figures. I've been so busy reading the trades, that I've yet to download the pictures I took onto my computer. Isn't that awful? No? Oh... well, okay then.

I've gotten all the days for Comic Con off from work, so with any luck, I'll be on my way to San Diego tomorrow morning. I need to rebuild my bed in the apartment since it was deconstructed to move into my new place. Unfortunately, we don't have internet set up in there yet, so while I'm gone, don't expect any updates from me. (Like I've been doing that with any frequency at all this month!) Well, whatever, it'll soon be time to indulge my nerdiness!

I'm going to Comic con down in San Diego this week. It'll be much the same set up as last year, save for the fact that I plan on attending every day. I really don't know if I'll have enough money to keep me occupied the whole time, but I'll try to keep myself going with trips to the seminars and anime showings, and overall hanging out with my friends. Like last year, my apartment in San Diego will be our kind of base of operations, acting as our hotel and meeting point. This year, though, I'll probably having friends dropping by on different day and staying only one or two days before taking off again. Sort of like shuffling them in and out. Should be fun.

Our British family friend, who's been staying with us for about a month, is flying home today. She'll go back to England for her university graduation ceremony, and then promptly leave for an extended vacation to China. She certainly has a lot of free time and disposable income on her hands. Oh well. At least Mike gets his room back now.

Since I've gotten more free time over the summer, I've finally gotten a chance to work on some G.I. Joe customs I've been wanting to do. So for the first time in many months I've got new stuff to show. First up is a 12" Zartan, and secondly, a lazy bastard custom of Baroness. I know it isn't much, but at least I've started again.

Since I don't know when or if a new volume of Essential X-Men will come out, I've been hunting down trades of all the old X-Men crossover events. I figure that even if new Essential volumes do come out, they probably won't collect the issues that aren't part of the Uncanny X-Men title. So I have something to look for that won't be just a complete waste of money. (Plus, it's in color!) So far I've tracked down:

-"Rise of the Phoenix"(Three issues detailing Jean Grey's first return from the dead)
-"Mutant Massacre" (Mr. Sinister's Marauder's killing off the Morlocks)
-"Fall of the Mutants" (actually three different storylines in three different titles under the same crossover banner)
-"Inferno" (Madeleine Pryor goes crazy and transforms New York with help from demons)
-"Asgardian Wars" (the X-Men and co. fight Loki)

I still want "X-tinction Agenda" and possibly "X-Cutioner's Song" and the "Phalanx Covenant" before I stop. I've collected the issues comprising "Fatal Attractions" so I needn't bother with that. I know there are more crossover's out there ("Age of Apocalypse" comes to mind, which I have a lot of), but after this point the crossovers become to large to collect individually (Operation: Zero Tolerance, Onslaught), or haven't been made into trades.

This nerd post brought to you by the comics company Marvel.

It's been a busy couple of days at Edwards. I worked the 4th, but that day was incredibly dead. Few people showed up to see films, to the point that I could easily handle the last three showings of Spider-Man myself. (Compare that to seven sold-out showings the day before!) So that was quite nice, not having to deal with the enormous crowds which had plagued me the day before. The next day was my day off...or so I thought! It turns out that Monday was a holiday for most folks and Edwards was seriously understaffed. So I ended up working on my day off. Fun stuff. But that's not all! Yesterday started out pretty normally at work. I even learned how to change the marquee signs. And it wasn't a very busy day (despite the objections of another employee who was getting kind of worried as he was still new to the operations of the box office. I don't really blame him for being worried, but he seemed to express his frustrations just a little too vocally.) Then one of the projectors broke. We had to cancel the 7:55 showing of the Terminal and deal with the 24 people who couldn't see their movie. Then a loud vocal fight erupted in the lobby between two guests over an alleged sexual misconduct. Police were called, people left, and we were on our own again. Like I said, busy couple of days. Even on the slow ones.

I've been working at Edward's, getting back into the groove of things, and exercising my right to see free movies. Spider-Man 2 is freakin' awesome. And it's been selling out a lot. That's all I have to say about that. Our theater finally got Fahrenheit 9/11 in and I'm really surprised by the number of people coming to see it. If Spider-Man wasn't showing, it might be our top grosser.
