I have some last minute chores to do around the house for the parents today and then I'll mostly be free. They still have a few hours to go before they reach their final destination, so I'm sympathizing for how jetlagged and cramped from the fight they must feel by now. So it looks like today's the day I get caught up on my stuff!

Like I figured, today is busy. I left the LA house around 9 to get back home. Traffic was surprisingly light, I noticed. As so as I got home, I cleared space on my passenger seat and took Brit to the groomer's. About ten minutes after I got back, the UPS guy arrived for me to sign for a shipment of wine. Hopefully, that's the last time I'll have to keep driving back early for that. Dad's going to forward all his wine shipments to the UPS store nearest us from now on. Then I had to take a quick trip to Fry's to pick up an adaptor for my monitor cable that I left in LA when bringing my computer tower back home today. Son after that dad came home and he and I went to lunch, in-between stops to the UPS store, dry cleaners, and the groomer's to pick Brit back up. And then mom called to tell me to pick up a prescription of hers from the hospital. So now I have a little break to type this up before mom gets home and all three of us have to drive to LAX for mom and dad's two-week vacation to Europe. From there, I'll drive to Nammy's place and go to a birthday party.

I decided to just lounge around the house today. I have a few things I'm supposed to work on, but nothing urgent. Tomorrow may prove to be a very busy day, so I want to take what free time I have now and enjoy it.

Y'know, there are times when doing the upkeep on an archive site can be mindwracking, even if all you're archiving is toys. The Joes are so well documented that you can be afraid to make a change and contradict years of precedent. Updating links on pages can be so chuck full of minute changes that you wanna cry thinking about how many times you have to repeat typing the same letters. But it's all worth it knowing you've got the most complete record of the items anywhere. That is, until you realize nobody's noticed the work you put into this thing!

Expect to see a couple of posts in the coming days as I scramble to fill seven posts for the month.

Ken came down from Texas over the weekend, having a small break between quarters at his grad school. I hung out with him for a few hours on Friday, but it was really today that we got a lot of time to just putz around. Since everyone else was working, I was kind of the default choice to stave off his boredom! And he and I wasted 90 minutes of our lives watching the Bloodrayne movie. Well, I wasted 90 minutes again, since I own the damn thing. And before anyone worries, I bought it on discount used, with the Bloodrayne 2 game, so I at least got the game out of it, and none of my money went to Uwe Boll.

More than halfway through the month, and I'm updating this page incredibly slowly.

I figured it was high time I updated my blog book. I'm certain I've mentioned it before, but it's been a while, so it bears repeating. I print off my blog post and any comments and put them into a binder which I've just this second called my blog book. This way I have a hard copy of my blog to keep as a sort of diary for reading when offline. During college I tried printing the previous month's post the instant they disappeared from the main page. Of course, I would procrastinate on this from time to time and now I find I haven't updated the book since August 2005. Time to put my printer through the rounds.

Opening up the book, I noticed once again that the first page is tearing through its punched holes. I figured today was as good as any to put all the pages into plastic protectors, so I spent some time doing that. Looking through my old posts again really got me thinking about these past few years. When I started, it seemed like just about half the people I knew kept some kind of blog. I find posts with more than one comment, sometimes becoming downright conversations. I found out I had a board game I'd completely forgotten about. I even saw comments from people I talked to all the time, but now never see online. Roommates I'd never talk to again. References to conversations I've completely forgotten, making the references themselves nonsensical. Kinda nostalgic and depressing all at the same time.

Holy crap, I've been doing an awful job on keeping up with this blog, haven't I? So we drove to Vegas on Friday after a bit of a late start. Surprisingly though, traffic was mercifully light. We picked up Tomoaki from the airport the next day and did the Vegas thing, taking him to various casinos, the Star Trek Experience, and even a buffet or two. I ended up about 15 down overall, a loss mostly made back up when I found 10 bucks lying on the ground at a gas station in the Cajon Pass.

Last week was fairly typical, save for the arrival from Vegas on Monday, and trips to Universal and Disneyland on Thursday and Friday, respectively, with Nammy and Tomoaki. Saturday was a bit of driving around town, showing Tomo are favorite hangouts, while Sunday was a goodbye dinner. Tomo left Monday.

As for me, I've finally got another interview! Tomorrow at 3 I'll be in Beverly Hills trying to get a paying gig as an assistant. Not much, but it'll keep dad off my back!
