So oddly enough Nammy found a video ipod today that he thought he lost a year ago. Turns out it was in his jacket pocket. D'oh! Well, his forgetfullness is my advantage. Since he had bought a replacement ipod long ago, I bought his old one off his for a very cheap price. I've got an ipod now!

Finishing up the rest of the Conan books I have. Should be done shortly after midnight. It took me a while to get around to finishing this book, largely because I got a little burnt out with the stories after going through the first two books so quickly. But routine hospital visits and a determination to finish so I can get on to other books have brought me close to the end. It's interesting to read these books with the knowledge of hindsight and the perspective of a different generation. Conan is more or less Superman. He rarely fails, has unfailing stamina, a mastery of about 30 languages, and has knowledge of all of the unknown. This is a superheroic character before superheroes were defined. No weaknesses, the ladies can't help but fall for him, and no task is insurmountable. Only in the last stories are there any kind of failings, yet Conan still largely survives unchanged. We know he lives of course (in fact the first Conan story would be his second-to-last chronologically speaking), but he rarely seems to change as a character. It's also interesting to see the background racism and blatant sexism in the writings of this Texas native. Sign of the times, I suppose. Oh, and since the author committed suicide when he was still quite young, it's easy to know he wasn't all right in the head.

I found the second wave of 25th Anniversary G.I. Joes at Wal-Mart yesterday. Of course I knew I would be the one to end up archiving them for YoJoe. It took a few hours to get them up, but the time was lengthened by going out to dinner and watching Simpsons and Family Guy. Once that coding was done, I went right to work on a second Lady Jaye I bought to bring you my newest Lazy Bastard Custom!

Yesterday my parents and I saw Across the Universe. I'm not one to normally go out of my way to see a musical, but I had to make an exception for this one. Wow, what a great movie. At times political, at times fanciful, at times trippy. If you're like my brother and hate the Beatles, this isn't the movie for you. Otherwise, see it while you can. It's a pity it's only in limited release.

Finally took care of a small, nagging problem that's been an issue since I moved back into the LA house. I got bookcases for my manga. Now, if you've been to my room at the Orange County house, you'll know I keep my manga in a bookshelf next to my bed, along with my trade paperbacks. Well, I was running out of room. The mangas are half the size of the trades, and I was getting more of both. Lots of wasted space. My solution? Take the mangas back with me to the LA house, freeing up space to make the old bookcase strictly American stuff. Unfortunately, I had nowhere to put the mangas when I got back here in LA. For two weeks they languished in boxes and Viz bags. But no longer! Today I picked up two bookcases from Fry's to organize them! Technically, they're "media" cases, designed to hold DVDs, VHS, and CDs, but the adjustable shelves and small depth work well for mangas. Now there's a bit more order to my room, even if
I did discover why these particular cases were on sale. Let's just say the term "flush" does not describe its edges....

I know I've been pretty quiet lately, but that's because I've been working on a new custom! It's my first Sigma 6 custom, too. Yeah, it's a hell of a time to start making them as they're all but canceled, but I couldn't let the line go without the chance to make Scarlett! Heh, my first Sigma 6 custom and it's a female?? I must be crazy! But hey, I like it enough that I'm willing to try and make Jinx next!

I've been at the LA house since Tuesday, hanging out with my new roommates. Both Jason and Russell moved in this week, although Russell isn't quite set up yet. Like usual, I'm going back home for the weekend, though this time with a purpose. Dad has a wine pouring over at the Eastlake clubhouse. For 85 people. He's feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment, and he's drafting me into service. He's also looking at recruiting my friends. This should be interesting...
