Last post of the year already! Wow! Seems like just yesterday I rang in the New Year in Japan. How did this year go by so fast? Seems like I'm thinking that more and more in the last few years. Oh well. So what did I learn this year? Bosses can be very trying on my patience, jobs aren't that easy to find in Hollywood, commuting between two houses is hell on a car's mileage, and careers can come out of nowhere. It should be an interesting year ahead!

I've been spending the last few days working through my massive pile of DVDs I got for Christmas. Apparently, mom forgot to give me a few DVDs she bought for my birthday, so there was a bit of a surplus. Thinking about it a little later, I realized I got a ton of clothing for my birthday. For Christmas all I got was two ties and a pair of pants. So... mom switched DVDs around for clothes? Weirder things have happened!

Hope everyone has had a very Merry Christmas! I know I got a lot of DVDs and some toys that I wanted, so I'm feelin' pretty happy myself! Time to clean up the wrapping paper, try on the clothes, and bask in the surroundings of family.

Finished up my Christmas shopping over the weekend. Had to get a little creative with coupons and discounts to make it all affordable, though. Well, maybe "creative" isn't the word, but believe me, I was building my shopping list around Border's coupons and credit earned at the local anime shop. I'd like to think I bought stuff everyone on my Christmas list would like, but there's always the chance they won't or they already have it. Just in case, I'm holding on to the receipts. I may go out and pick up something extra for dad, though. Quantity-wise, he's kind of getting the short end of the stick when compared to the gifts for Mike and mom.

I managed to burn myself earlier this evening, in a pretty stupid way, too. At the LA house, we have a floor heater with a pilot light that's a bit of a challenge to light. Trying to get it going I tried using one of those red lighters you could use to light a fire in the fireplace. It wasn't working so I set it down on the floor. Then I leaned forward to peer into the hole for the pilot light. To balance myself I put my left hand down on the floor by the heater. And on top of the still hot lighter. Ow. Needless to say, I pulled my hand away when I felt the burn, but the damage was already done. It's a second degree burn, too, blister and all. Not one of my brighter moments, to be sure.

Christmas lights at the LA house have been up since last week. Since I keep the lights here incredibly simple, everything's usually up and done inside of a half hour. One strand of external LED lights, and a 4" tall artificial tree with lighted fiber optic wires. Nothing too fancy, and it all fits onto one plug. No need to go overboard when I won't even be there for Christmas.

Having put up the Christmas decorations, I noticed something missing from the front yard over the weekend. Someone stole our light-up reindeer! Honestly, who steals Christmas decorations? And what are you gonna do with them? I don't expect we'll ever see that deer again, but I reported it stolen to the cops anyway. Like I figured, I wasn't the only one to have a deer stolen.
