Did some cleaning around the house today - vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing type of stuff. Nothing too terribly drastic, but it kinda needed to be done. We're a little lax when it comes to cleanliness around here, but I like to think we keep it from being a pig sty! But now I need to get s new mop - the good one tore!

Today I spent an unexpectedly long amount of time in front of the computer coding html. Surprisingly, I found G.I. Joes I was looking for in a K-Mart of all places, and of course they weren't yet up on yojoe.com. Suddenly I had four archive pages to whip together, not to mention the various pages related to it - a page for the comic books packaged with them, pages for their filecards, a page notifying people of the update, etc. So that ate up a few hours from the day. If there is one regret I have for joining their staff it's that I suddenly feel compelled to work a few hours before I'm even able to really enjoy the toys for what they are.

I had a couple of hours at Star Trek: The Tour. It was a bit expensive as these things go, but how could I deny the pleasure of sitting in the command chair of not 1, but 2 Enterprise bridges? There was also a pretty cheesy motion simulator ride, a more daring motion simulator ride with a really long line, and a little movie with new footage to exit the show! Plus, I picked up a swanky new hat and jacket, so it couldn't be all that bad. Now I gotta rummage through my pics and figure out if I should download those bridge shots the employees took of us.

I really wish I had something or worth to talk about here, but unless you like hearing about all the html coding I've been doing, I have nothing to tell you! I was glad to see Chuck finally come back to NBC's schedule, but since I wasn't aware it was happening, I missed the first of the two episodes that aired! Oh well, guess I'll watch it off their website. Meanwhile, I'm getting antsy for Sunday. We're going to Star Trek: The Tour! Nerd alert!

Last week I agreed to dog-sit two greyhounds for some friends of the family. I started Thursday, and it's been okay so far. That day I found out that my parent are out of town this weekend, so Brit's on her own! Well, I'm doing my best to keep both set of pets happy. Spend the day at home, and the night with the greyhounds. So far, the dogs seem to be doing all right this way. And fortunately for me, I'm finished with my dog-sitting obligations tomorrow morning. Just one more night on your own, Brit! You can do it!

Two things worth mentioning today: I've got a wedding I'm attending in about a month. Why should this matter? Well, aside from being Best Man, I need a date! I think I've got the Best Man part down, but the invitation said myself and a guest. Any (female) volunteers?

Secondly, I know who you people are again! Well, I knew who you were already, but... Ok, this will require some explanation. See, this whole bit here? It concerns AOL's Instant Messenger.

For the past few months, I've been exclusively on Trillian. Works fine for me, and I don't have to open multiple IM programs. MSN Messenger has never really been a problem keeping track of people, since I only have about 10 buddies on there. AIM on the other hand, has hundreds. And few of you use your real names. Well, that wasn't too big a deal. When I first started using AIM, they had this nifty note feature. I'd get a screen name and just plug in the real name in the note. The problem came when AIM upgraded its program about a year ago. The notes didn't upgrade along with it. I lost my list of names! So for far too long, I'd see these screen names pop up for people whose identity I had no clue. It doesn't help that my buddies list is swarming with people I rarely chat with any more. My fault more than anything; I'm hardly the most social person in the world.

So how did I figure out your names again? My worry that my buddy list would be lost online over the years led me to save the buddy list every time I had a new addition. Notes were saved along with it. I just realized now that I could open this file with WordPad. And right there under the screen name? My notes! Finally, identities revealed to me!

Now comes the fun part of hand typing all your names into the note field on Trillian. By the way, the notes aren't saved in an online database. I have to enter the notes into every computer I use Trillian on. D'oh!

Boy, I could have sworn I've posted at least once this year. Guess not! I suppose the only noteworthy thing to have happened in the last few days was that I became an assistant manager for a department in AX. Ax Media, to be precise. No, I'm still not paid, but hey, at least I'm putting my bachelor's degree to use now! Unfortunately, the department doesn't have a head manager yet. Looks like I'll have to fill in for that until they actually find someone. Related to this promotion, I attended the AX Manager's Retreat in La Jolla over the weekend. Standard motivation seminars and cultural education. The weirdest part was being just down the street from UCSD but having no involvement with it. The school's not really mine any more.
