The car's packed and I'm heading out to AX. I'll make a quick stop to the LA house to catch up on emails and blogs since I don't expect a whole lot of internet access during the con. I'm looking forward to the work, but also dreading it a little bit. Here's hoping the press junket goes smoothly!

I just came back from packing up our computers for AX. Fortunately for me, I made an announcement about it last time, so I wasn't the only one there. Last year I was pretty much the only one doing the packing. Today, I did hardly any. That's not to say I just sat there, though. I was finishing up some last minute videos and DVDs for the con. We're as ready to go as we'll ever be. Still would like to straighten out the a few events we're covering, though. Potential headaches there.

Dad recruited me to help him paint the exterior of a house we rent out. Started the job today, but I'm not really available after tomorrow. I think he may end up having to do most of the work on his own, sadly. Either way, the job keeps oscillating back and forth from easier than I'm expecting to more complicated than I'd hoped. Stupid awnings.

Nammy's dogsitting for the weekend. Seeing as how the dog was dropped off at the office, and I was his stop after work, that means the dog is here. Fortunately, Sierra was the aggressive dog that would try to assert dominance over others. Brittany not so much. With Sierra in Virginia, we didn't think it would be all that big a deal to have another dog in the house. Well, Brittany is obviously a girl. And this dog is a boy. Let's just say this little dog is trying to give Brit a little too much attention. Brit's having none of it. She was getting annoyed!

Spent Saturday with an AX film crew shooting some segments to go online before the convention starts. Did some shooting around the Bonaventure, down Figueroa, and inside the LA Convention Center. All of it was for informational stuff, so nothing too drastic in the way of shooting.

Sunday we were supposed to start editing the footage, but the department meeting stretched five hours just pouring over the schedule! I made a preliminary shooting schedule for the convention before the meeting, but didn't think much of it. Amazingly, most of what I did stayed in there. There were many panel additions we decided to cover, but all in all, it looked like my scheduling worked.

Yesterday we finally got around to the editing. Another six hours or so in the office supervising my editors. They'll be there again today, and probably for the rest of the week. Should be worth the effort, though.

Just finished watching "Star Trek: First Contact" with Russell. Only two more movies left in our viewings, but man did this one make me nostalgic. The theme song used for this film was constantly playing in "Star Trek: The Experience." Made me want to go back there - a place that no longer exists. Let's hope the rumors of its resurrection pan out. Even if it's not in the same place, that complex deserves to live on in the world.

Preferably in place I can easily access.

As we draw tantalizingly closer to Anime Expo, I'm getting progressively more work to finish. We're not as finished as I'd hoped we'd be, but we've still got a fighting chance to get this stuff done. We're working on our coverage plans, we've got some videos we want to shoot, and it's entirely possible that we'll pull this off! Of course, there's still a lot of effort that has to go into this to make it work, but no one said this would be easy, now did they?
