Ever get excited about some small repair or upgrade you've decided to make? Even if that repair/upgrade is only noticeable to you? Yeah, I'm kinda feeling that right now. This is because I have decided to get a power strip for one of the outlets at the LA house. Honestly, it's nothing to make a fuss over, but I feel smart for thinking of doing this. Why?? It's a freaking power strip! Nobody's going to care about the thought process behind getting it! I guess it's the little things that get you through the day.

It may be news to you, but I've been helping out a comic book/television/video game writer clear out his comic collection for a while now. He's got decades of comics in his garage that he's looking to donate, and it's my job to inventory and price them, both for use of cataloging and for the inevitable tax write-off. He's willing to get rid of the comics because trades and disc collections means he no longer has to hold on to them for continuity purposes. Well, after sorting maybe half his collection, I've started pricing them. Keep in mind these are well worn, well loved books. Many are not in pristine condition. Still, it's frightening how much some of the older ones go for, even in their current state. I feel bad having to touch them!

I just got into the Orange County house about a half hour ago to find dad here telecommuting to work. When I exited the car, the rain was a light sprinkle. About ten minutes ago, it became torrential. The problem is that it's also trash day, and the cans have already been emptied. That much rain falling down the slope of the hill that comprises our street is bad. In quick succession we saw one can pushed by the water slam into the bumper of our car parked on the curb, followed by another five cans slide down the other side of the street. Those cans actually went out into the intersection before stopping. Dad got out to pull the one can off our car, while I moved the others onto a sidewalk and out of traffic. Crazy weather!

Lots of rain this week! Got a little bit of thunder and lightning here, too! It is amusing though to see everybody in Facebook surprised at tornado warnings in Orange County. I know it's unusual, but it got so much acknowledgement (even from my dad!) that it was hard not to laugh at the ubiquity of the tornado comments!

Our new roommate's been with us for two weeks now, but we're still adding little upgrades here and there on the weekends. Upgrading curtains, adding new locks, some more grouting, even fixing door hinges. We're trying to replace one of the doors now, but the rain forecast for this week will delay the installation for a few days. Either way, good changes are on the way!

Today was another big day of working on the back room at the LA house. Now that the big upgrades have finally been completed, we're getting into finishing out the little details - towel rack, curtain rods, electrical outlet covers. Smaller in scope, yeah, but no less important!

Welcome to a new decade everybody! Weird to think that. Didn't seem so long ago that I was a high school sophomore about to ring in the new millenium. Man, time really flies when you're not paying attention....
