I have a relatively uneventful weekend coming up, so I drove home last night. I crash a Halloween party or two, stop by Disneyland to take a few photos for my Vis 1 project, and pick up a new drive belt for my vacuum cleaner. Really mundane stuff, mostly, but at least I won't get too screwed up by the time change on Sunday.

I finally got to see how our group film turned out today. With the editing and added graphics, this sucker was hilarious. Imagine a bunch of airheads talking about how their sorority is the coolest, except there's only three members, their meetings take place in the bathroom of a lecture hall, they hold their recruiting drive on a day when no one's on campus, and there's a bum sleeping in their bedroom. Now add into this annoying Britney music, graphics out of Charlie's Angels, and interviews that are way too peppy. Too much fun.

Another rainy day here in San Diego. Nothing major happened to me otherwise, save that my umbrella suffered a minor break. Nothing that would result in me getting totally drenched, mind you, but a break nonetheless. I'm now helping out Justin with his VIS 145A midterm, which he's paranoid is gonna take forever to do. I don't think he quite realizes that he's done most of it already.

Blogger was acting up, so it took a little coaxing to get this post up. My group project should be in the editing room as I type, going into its rough cut for tomorrow. Our editor assures us he'll have the editing done for our director tomorrow afternoon, at which point he'll hand it off to our graphics person for the final post-production addition of After Effects... uh... effects. I get to then see the results during class Thursday. It's nice only having to really work two days on a project and trust that other people will get it done. Whenever I shoot something for a project of my own, I dread having to work on the editing, because it just takes so damn long.

Justin's going through 180A this quarter, so he's having to endure the film making process, except that he has a much worse teacher than I got. It seems this is the case for all his classes. For some reason, the teacher's making him use Director in 145A instead of Flash. Not having any experience with this program is giving me a bit of a headache, since he's totally reliant upon me to help him out. And I just don't want to work, let alone on something I'm not even turning in!

This weekend was incredibly long. For one thing, I couldn't sleep Friday night to save my life. I got addicted to a little flash strategy game, and when I finished at 3 am Saturday morning I went to bed. After about 3 hours of tossing and turning I decided it wasn't going to get any better and I got up to start the day. During Saturday, I discovered that the filming my group and I were doing on Sunday was moved up an hour, meaning I would have to rise at 6 am Sunday, too. But I did get my website finally fixed, so the day wasn't all bad.

Sunday we started filming at around 6:30 and wrapped at 12:45. When I got back to the apartment, I sat around for a few hours before my parents showed up to take Justin and me to dinner. They left at around 7:30, so I spent the rest of the night watching Simpsons DVDs. Justin did too. However, unlike me, Justin has projects that need to be done. And apparently, he needs my help. And I think teaching him how to use Premiere and Director is incredibly boring. Oh well.

We ended up cancelling the shooting for today. The bulk of the filming was to be done Sunday anyways, so we can probably squeeze it in then, or if necessary, on Monday. Instead, I helped with my roommate Justin's filming today. The poor fool has the documentary class I had last quarter, only with a much worse teacher. Poor guy.

Tomorrow for my VIS 180B class, I'm supposed to start working on a student film with the group I'm in. Only it seems that we're an actress short to make the film. This causes problems, and we're so crunched on time that I'm not sure when we'll get the scene filmed. Oh, the headaches that school can cause.

I finally got home from this incredibly long day. Why I wasn't home three hours ago is due to a meeting planned in my film class. Since I'm in a group project and we have such a tight schedule, the storyboard for this assignment needed to be done tonight, at a group member's apartment. So my long day became even longer, and I ended up walking home in the middle of the night through a residential district I knew little about.

Luckily I did get some time for dinner and it wasn't raining as I walked back. Just windy. Very windy.

I've got a long day of class today. In addition to the 4 1/2 hours of class I regularly have on Tuesdays, I get to spend 4 hours directly afterward observing a play rehearsal for my stage management class. This means I'll be in class 8 1/2 hours today, and I don't think I'll have time for dinner. And it's raining. Which means if I miss the last cityshuttle bus back to my apartment, I might end up walking home in the rain at night. Oh good.

We did get that wine fridge installed over the weekend. The sucker's huge, larger than I expected, but not as deep. Dad kept wanting to break it down more than necessary, but luckily I got him to follow my directions so we didn't have to take the bottom apart from the back wall. We scuffed up the walls and chipped the corners of the fridge a bit, though. Dad's now getting all the wine from all over the house (including his own) and organizing the little buggers into the wine racks in the fridge.

The whole installation took the better part of Saturday, but we were fortunate enough not to have to worry about the rain. Seeing how bad it got and how it continues to be here in San Diego, I'm rather glad we didn't have to worry about the wood walls warping as we moved them from the garage to the shed.

I got ahold of America (The Book) today, and it's incredibly funny. It's modeled after a high school textbook, complete with study guides and discussion questions. I kinda feel like it's like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, though, in that there's so much humor in it that it starts to wear you down after a while. I'll be tackling this sucker a little bit at a time.

I'll be going home this weekend to help dad move a wine refrigerator into his shed beside the house. I say shed, because that's what it is, but truly he's converted the damn thing into a full-fledged room, with tile flooring, insulated walls, AC, and even electical, phone, and internet lines.

Anyways, the fridge arrives tomorrow, and on Saturday we're going to disassemble the whole thing to bring it through the shed's door, piece by piece. Apparently, having the deliverers assemble it on site would cost about $300 more. Just my luck, huh?

I'm working on an assignment for my Stage Management class now. I need to create a "prompt book," wherein I keep pretty much all notes and info concerning a play. Of course, I'm not actually in charge of the play, so I don't have to deal with the harsh reality of all the crap I would have to do if I were.

Oh lord, I hope that made sense.

I'm still waiting on Uzipp to reload my site. I may not have done the last reply to them correctly because I forgot to change one little option. I'll give them a few more days, though.

Shit.

I'm feeling pretty bad right now. Christopher Reeve has passed on, and now I'm sitting in my room feeling as if the world's become a little darker. Superman is gone. I know Reeve isn't really Superman, but it was his films that really defined who I am today. His Superman movies made me love comics, made me want to be Superman. Even though I stopped reading Superman long ago, I always had a special place for him. And Reeve was the man who defined who Superman should be. I was sad when he was paralyzed, hopeful as he slowly began to recover, and always optimistic that he would one day walk again. But that's not gonna happen now. So long, Mr. Reeve, and thanks for the memories.

Apparently, Uzipp has to "reboot" the site, as it were. They're gonna completely erase everything and start all over again. Which means I get the enjoyable task of re-uploading every single page. Fun stuff.

I'm still trying to resolve this debacle, but since you can't see this, there's no point in me typing, is there? My hope is that once this situation is fixed, you'll be able to read why it looked like I didn't bother updating. At least I've established a line of contact with the powers that be over at Uzipp to help me resolve this thing.

Ugh. Apparently, my account disc space increased about 30x. How this happened is beyond me, but that means I won't be able to post anything until this is resolved. I don't know where this bulk is coming from, so I can't delete it. And I can't add to this page wirthout clearing out some disk space.

Uzipp, my webhost, seems to still be going through the ups and downs of server upgrades, resulting in delays in posts and the occasional webpage time warp. Not to worry, though, since Blogger archives all my posts on its own server. If my page doesn't seem to show up at times, don't worry. It'll get fixed.

I'm still getting used to my schedule, but at looks as though Vis 1 wins the coveted "most hated class" spot of the quarter. Seriously, incredibly boring lectures of stuff I've had before, a TA who seems to take the class way too seriously (Especially since it's an introductory class, and the fact that I'm a fourth year taking the class for no reason other than it's suddenly this unannounced prerequisite for a class necessary for my major! My other two classes aren't that great, either, but at least I don't have to sit through the huge lecture hall classes. I even have a project due in Vis 1 every week, which apparently has to be of grad school quality. They still don't teach us any fundamentals, of course; we just have to create the greatest pieces of art ever. Never mind that I don't really think of myself as an artist.
