If yesterday was quiet, today is dead. Almost no one is coming in, except to check if they won a raffle. And there were a lot of winners, but not many checking to see if they won. I can see this causing problems for us. Later I'll be going to the SOS Brigade concert; I'm interested to see what concerts at AX are like. At least I know who these people are, unlike the other venues here.

Being the first day of the convention, things have slowed down here in my office. Odd thought, no? Of course, our office is more geared towards setting up things behind the scenes. So theoretically my job should get easier. Let's hope it works out that way! It was pretty quiet today, after a short, initial rush in the morning. Con-wise, I didn't do too terribly much. I walked around the building to get a better feel of the place, and did some shopping at the exhibit hall. No panels or concerts I wanted to see.

Blogging from the Staff Resources office at Anime Expo! Actually, we're in a room inside one of the hotels a ways away from the convention center. But seeing as how some of the events of the con are here, too, then I guess I'm still at the con! Been a busy few days checking all the staff in and getting everything in order, but now that the con's actually started we're pretty quiet. Let's hope it stays that way!

For me, Anime Expo starts today. The bulk of my department's work occurs before the convention actually starts, so I'm going to have a busy two days here. Since I'm staying at a hotel (free!), I won't have computer access until I'm done on July 2, but I'll see if I can't borrow someone's laptop for a few minutes.

Most of these last 10 days have been spent getting things ready for the con, including printing and laminating all those badges for the staff. Lots of work, lots of time sent outside the house, lots of interaction with people I don't really know! By Wednesday, I should be more or less stuck in Long Beach until Monday night. Here's to hoping I have a good time there, huh? I gotta get some pads for my shoes!

Though I've had no interviews, this week has certainly been interesting. Dad had an appointment Monday morning which was supposed to require me driving him home. Figuring I would wait there for a few hours, I bought some books at Borders the night before to keep me occupied. Well, dad was there only an hour, and was quite cogent at the end, so I was terribly needed. No matter, I was enjoying reading about Conan. Tuesday was more con work. I spent Monday night at Nammy's house so we could ride the subs early at Disneyland the next day. Despite being there at opening, we still waited 2 and a half hours to get onboard. Fun ride, but I'm not sure I want to wait in such a line to ride it again. From there we drove to San Diego to pick up shelving for an AX department. Dinner in SD before driving back home. Wednesday, more con work. Thursday a drive to check on Amalia. And today? Three oil changes, a trip to Irvine for some work on my radios, and an afternoon viewing of a movie. Now it's Stargate time!

I had another job interview yesterday, this time for a place I'd actually heard of! Mad, I know. The interview lasted about twice as long as Monday's, and actually sounded pretty doable. Only problem would be when August rolls around and I would find myself working on weekends as well as weekdays. No time off, y'know. When am I supposed to get laundry done?

I've got my first interview since leaving Card International tomorrow for a company that specializes in sports. I didn't know that when I applied, so hopefully I can still fit in there, should I get the job. Wish me luck!

Oh yeah, I shaved off the sideburns today. Seemed fitting, as it was last June when I started growing them again. I just wanted a break from the hassle of dealing with them, y'know? Aside from the shaving issues, I would constantly have to watch the gap and the barbers left we with longer haircuts that I normally like.
