Hey now, it's a leap day! I've been keeping busy today, though, driving around from house to house, with visits to hospitals and relatives. I don't really wanna get into it on here, but some family members have been pretty sick lately, and it's been diverting our energies towards addressing their issues. But we're keeping positive outlooks - hoping for the best but informed of the worst. We're dealing with each family member as best as we know how.

I don't know what I did, but for the last few days my left eyelid has been swollen. It's kind of gross. It started Tuesday night when I took my contacts out. Afterward, the left eye hurt a little and I had a burning sensation when I blinked. I chalked it up to wearing the contacts a little too long and gave it no mind. Went to bed, got up the next day, and went to put my contacts in when I noticed the swelling. Well, the eye itself wasn't red, so I put the contact in anyway. I probably wasn't doing myself any favors, though. Throughout the day Wednesday, the pain in my eye would go from non-existent to annoying. Nothing too terrible, but enough to remind me it was there. I decided to forgo contacts today and that seems to have made a difference. The swelling is down, redness in the eyelid itself seems to have disappeared, and the pain is gone. Not sure what caused it, but hopefully I'm done with it.

I picked up a metric ton of G.I. Joe trading cards over the weekend. It was mostly under the pretense of being able to improve the yojoe archive, but truth be told, I really wanted to fill out my incredibly meager sets. Now I have 3 complete card sets and 3 incomplete sets. And I do believe there are another 2 sets out there. They aren't easy to come by, but fortunately they are for the most part cheap. Of course, those prices add up!

It's kind of odd to have such a normal routine again after such an unusual and eventful week. But here I am, back in LA, doing what I normally do. Sure, I'm doing a bit more in the way of AX stuff, but my yojoe workload is the same (in fact, I got caught up, so I'm done there for the moment) and I'm still waiting around to here back on any writing assignments. I think what's making seem so off is the odd hours Russell and Jason have had this week. Everything seems back to normal for me, but these guys are coming and going at the wrong times for what I consider normal. That, and maybe the overcast weather causing everything to be perpetually darker inside the house.

Got through the weekend's wedding intact. Better than intact, actually. Hustler Casino was kind of a bust as far as the Bachelor's Party went, but we went back to the hotel room and played cards there. Much fun ensued. Of course, having only finished writing my toast as Best Man the night before, I wasn't totally certain how it would play in front of a crowd. Apparently, I needn't have worried. I brought down the house! Couldn't have had a better reception to it, really.

It's been pretty hectic around here with the trips to the hospital, AX meeting, and my car breaking down. Yes, Mike, the Escort broke now, and no, it isn't my fault. The tensioner was out of whack, so it threw out a belt on the engine. That caused power steering to go out on me and would've done worse had I not gotten it to the dealership in a timely matter. Additionally, the water pump was leaking, there's something wrong with the thermostat, and someone left a tool under the hood from the last repair! Now I have to do with the wedding on Saturday! Busy, busy, busy!

Holy hell, when it rains, it pours! So Saturday dad and I are going to my grandparents house to paint their living room. We're not even a mile from the house when we get a call that grandma fell and broke her ankle. Well, we get there and dad takes her to the hospital while I get to work painting. She gets a temporary cast, and dad and I manage to get the painting that had to be done done over the weekend (in time for the Super Bowl, of course). Meanwhile, grandma's in a cast for six weeks, complicating life for her and my grandpa. It could have been worse, right? Monday my aunt takes grandma to the hospital to get her temporary cast swapped out for a permanent one. While they're gone, grandpa goes to get the mail, falls and breaks his hip. Dammit!
